Devices at Te Ao Mārama
We provide iPads and laptops across all learning spaces as tools to enhance the learning at Te Ao Mārama School.
BYOD
We also run a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) programme with our older students in Kāhu Tahi, Kāhu Rua and Tūī Rua. This is an integral part of our learning philosophy & allows students to make their computer personal to them, as well as allowing them to continue work at home.
Bring Your Own Device allows students to have one-to-one time on a device that is set up to their specifications for their learning. This has many benefits, including:
- bridging the learning gap between home and school.
- enabling students to take increasing responsibility for their own learning and
- equipment
- empowering students to learn at a pace and place as well as a way which suits them
- teaches students how to discern what tool will best help with their learning
- encouraging and enabling teachers to more easily implement personalised learning
- prepares students for a future where they are likely to be working in an environment with increasing amounts of technology and IT/collaborative/cloud based tools.

Digital Citizenship
We value our internet facilities and ICT digital technology equipment and the benefits they bring us in learning outcomes and the effective operation of the school.
We are also committed to keeping our learners safe online. Each year, students are asked to read and discuss our eLearning Responsible Use Agreement at home before signing and returning it to school.
This document will also be discussed and explored at school as part of our digital citizenship programmes.
